If you're craving a Vietnamese sandwich and can't get to Westminster, this is the spot!
Perfectly
marinated veggies, strong chili peppers, nice creamy sauce, all on a
perfect french roll - crispy and flaky on the outside and soft and
doughy on the inside. Subway's $5 sandwiches have nothing over Saigon
Cuisine's, which are under $5. Also love their lettuce wrapped spring rolls - loads of herbs and not too greasy.
I have had really disappointing Pho lately and I
was really not expecting much when I walked into this Pho joint located in a
renovation-in-progress shopping center. It was chilly out and I wanted a
bowl of hot soupy noodles to warm my belly.
Surprisingly, the prices are pretty decent. The fried spring rolls were
piping hot and not too greasy. We also ordered fresh spring rolls and
they were HUGE! I was stuffed after sharing one with my friend.
Then came the pho. I'd prob spend an extra $2 and order extra beef on
top, but I was quite pleased with the taste of the soup - which was not too
salty and wasn't overwhelmed with a ton of MSG.
Overall, this is a decent place for a quick bite at lunch time. The
plate lunch special with rice and grilled meats is pretty decent too.
Will try the sandwich next time.

I've arrived with a generous review - the catch
is that you should stick with the banh mi (the sandwich!). The grilled pork
sandwich is really a quality portion compared with what you would get off Bolsa
up the 5 freeway a bit. A huge sandwich easily rivaling the Subways and Quiznos
of the nation, all for 3.95? sweeeet. You can't go wrong with drizzling a
little bit of fish sauce across the top.
Wifey and i tried a few other dishes - try to stay away from the mostly
tasteless spring rolls. rice dishes come with a ridiculous amount of food - the
marinated grilled meats are delicious. we tried the fried sweet potato fries
& shrimp, and wow those are some good times.
Consider a beer to top it off - but be wary that the alcohol is a bit overpriced.
finish up with a hot or iced cafe and you've got a great meal. Don't forget
that prices will be much higher compared to comparable places in Westminster -
gotta pay rent!
enjoy!

**UPDATE (6/1/08) as of a few weeks ago, prices went up $1-2 across the board -
still a pretty decent deal considering the area

For a Vietnamese restaurant, I like it because it's so clean! The food seems less greasy and the waiters don't set down your pho with their thumbs in it. They give you a set amount of the hoisin and sriracha in a little dish, which is never enough, but you can ask them for more. I also like their dry vermicelli noodles with eggroll or beef. They give you so much eggrolls! Today I had beef and I was stuffed, I couldn't finish it because they put so much thin sliced meat! I always order water because this is one place where they don't serve you water from the backyard hose. I eat here often on my lunch breaks. I see alot of people order their lunch special which comes with rice, soup, eggrolls, some kind of bread, and a choice of meat for 8 dollars. I think that's pretty good for the amount of food you get.

I go here for lunch when I want Vietnamese
because it's close to my office. It's not the best Vietnamese you'll ever have,
but overall it's good, not bad prices, and clean inside.
I often just have a bowl of pho noodles with a couple of cuts of beef, and some
fresh spring rolls for lunch. I've also had a beef stew (cant' remember the
name) that comes with french bread, also good. If you are around South Coast
Plaza, worth checking out for lunch.

A friend and I decided to check out a Vietnamese restaurant that was close to the movie theater we were going to see a movie at later on that evening. The restaurant's name is Saigon Cuisine. The menu looked interesting, but I was really in the mood for soup so I ordered the Crispy Chicken Noodle Soup, but once I saw that Avocado Milkshakes were on the menu, I had to have that, too.
